The next stop on our Friday afternoon wine tasting outing was Von Jakob Vineyard & Brewery. The view from their outdoor patio overlooking the vineyard is spectacular. No shortage of gifts here either. You guessed it Linda (Loraine’s Sister) and I at the bar, she did the wine tasting and I decided to try out some of the brew. A nice option for those who prefer a beer, over wine.

The view from Von Jakob's patio what a great blue sky, gift shop, wine tasting

If you are looking for some food with a German flare this is the place, didn’t get a photo of the menu, so click the link to see their selections.

Hickory Ridge Winery was our last stop, and once again Linda and I took on the arduous task of tasting the wine, What a great selection. Great outdoor venue and nice cozy personal atmosphere inside. Loraine was manning the camera of course. To think some folks call this work!   🙂

Beautiful blue sky view at Hickory Ridge Winery, inside comfortable couch and seating to enjoy you wine

We are planning on heading out this weekend for some more wine & photo’s. Unfortunately, Linda fly’s back to Florida, so Loraine and I will have pick up the slack. We will be touring the north and eastern parts of the trail, maybe if we work really hard, we will get the rest done in one day. Part four coming soon. Shawnee Hills Wine Trail Winter Passport Program is in full swing. Who knows what you might win, it does take a little work though, as you will have to hit all the winery’s on the trail. We have availability here at the Makanda Inn & Cottages so book a Suite or a cottage and come on down.
