October has been our busiest month since opening, it’s been a blast! There was SIU Homecoming, Color Fest, Vulture Fest this past weekend and Halloween coming up. Vulture Fest went great. There were 40 vendors with some really amazing talent. I was back and forth from the inn and the Silent Auction which went well. We were able to raise money for Free Again, Inc. a wildlife non profit organization. I did make time to catch Mike Darby and House of Cards from New Orleans rock out as usual on Saturday and then I was introduced to Mountain Sprout who were amazing and headlined Saturday night! Big Larry played in Rainmakers garden to close the fest and he opened the show with his rendition of Stand by Me and it brought tears to my eyes!! He was wonderful and it was a great way to end a very special weekend. I will taking over the planning the future festivalsso I hope they will turn out just as good as this years. I have to give special thanks to Dan Weber, Karen and Dan for coming down this weekend and manning the Makanda Inn booth and baking some delicious pumpkin and banana bread and to all the people that stopped by the booth to visit!
