We took a second drive up the Bald Knob Cross road to explore the wilderness surroundings that are part of the Shawnee National Forest. We visited the cross the night before to see the super moon and were so taken with the area we just had to go back the next day. Loraine and I hiked a short distance down the River to River trail to see some of the most beautiful wooded sights since we arrived in the area almost a year ago. This Wilderness area is considered to be some of the most difficult terrain on the trail. I can see us going back and taking a little more time to hike here. Every trip we take to explore this place called Little Egypt reaffirms our love for the area.
